1963 Ford Galaxie XL 500 2dr Clb Vic:
YEE HAW!!! Son of a Gun this unit is a great early
unmolested "Muscle Survivor" with plenty of original patina
and history to enjoy! Solid ownership history starts with it being sold
new in southern California @ Chaffee Motors which was owned by
Vel's-Parnelli Jones (original sticker on drivers wind wing). The current Arizona 3rd owner purchased it
in 2007 from the 2nd California registered owner who had purchased it in 1975 from
the original California registered owner who had special ordered the
car.... So 2 Southern California registered owners, #1 1962 to 1975 =
13 years, #2 1975 to 2007 = 32 Years. Now in dry Lake Havasu
City Arizona private collection awaiting you! An original
California "Black Plate" vehicle with 100,708
verified actual miles and extensive
historic documentation is included...
The rest of the known facts are the
VIN# 3J67G103608, 3 = 1963, J = Los
Angeles built, 67 = Galaxie XL500 Clb-Vic 5 Passenger, G = 406
(Hi Performance V-8 6 Barrel 405HP) and # 3608 in build sequence.
DATA TAG, Body 65B = 2-Door 500XL
Hardtop, Color M = Corinthian White, Trim 87 = Lt. Turquoise,
Build Date 28J = Sept 28, 1962, DSO 71 = Los Angeles, Axle 5 =
9" 3.50:1, Transmission 5 = 4 Speed Manual.
Inspection Notes:
The body, trim and interior are known to be original with
expected dry climate patina, wear and use flaws. Body
in detail, most of the trim is
excellent with some die-cast parts showing as commonly a bit
weathered, the paint appears well cared for
factory
original paint with thin areas and existing
minor small blends over the years (known top rear deck painted and
rear bumper re-plated), rock solid/dry original floor
pans, rockers & body panels, wheel/caps/tires on car are not
original (8" 61-62 performance wheels with correct centers) and
included is a set of 5" non Kelsey Hayes factory style rims, 5
original spinner caps mounted with
vintage bias ply Firestone 4" wide rubber along with the
original jack assembly...
Interior in detail,
equipped with factory AM/FM Radio with dealer added reverb that
are typically inoperative, all factory seating surfaces and trim
appears to be exceptional original with minimal common patina,
slight wear and no tears, excellent F/R door panels/trim panels,
front only added seat belts (dealer?), original SUN 8,500
Tachometer with correct battery operated apron mounted
transistor, comes with thick file
- original registrations dating back to New/1963, brochures, owners manual, parts
books, repair manual and many misc historic docs...
The power-train and all
known major components appear to be original with the
exception of a correct 1963 factory service replacement block, "406 HP cross
bolt capable", by the the 32 year owner due to a crack in
original block and was
later rebuilt photo documented & receipts in
1992, Holman-Moody 406AA Cam, Balanced Blue-printed, original
Intake heat cross over repaired, flow cooler water pump, good
correct clutch/flywheel/bell, 4-Speed trans shifts excellent up/down,
up-graded early Hurst linkage, big sintered "Velvet Touch"
metallic shoes and up-graded Flowmaster exhaust. Professional inspector notes/comments: "It
could not have run any better new - what a thrill", "Pretty
Special for as rare as it is and how old it is", Nobody screwed
with this car - it runs like a Cheetah".
(see detailed sub-page
photos) The rest speaks for itself...
In closing, solid and
special early Muscle Cars such as this are getting super hard to
find and it is very debatable whether to leave this gem the way
it is and/or restore to perfection. "They are original only once
and/or to get the ultimate restoration, you must start with the
best example!"
